Today, Pakistan commemorates Pakistan Day with a renewed commitment to advancing the nation’s progress and stability.
This day holds significant historical importance as it marks the adoption of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940. This resolution laid the groundwork for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques across the country after the Fajr prayers for the welfare, prosperity, and solidarity of Pakistan. National flags will be raised on major government buildings.
The highlight of the day will be the grand military parade in Islamabad, featuring contingents from the three armed forces and other security forces. Fighter planes will also showcase aerobatic maneuvers during the event.
Additionally, an investiture ceremony is scheduled to take place at Aiwan-e-Sadr in the afternoon. During this ceremony, President Asif Ali Zardari will confer awards and medals upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions in various fields.
